Question of the Day

So here's my question: If Lions Gate is the 'anti-studio', then why do they put out just as much crap as a regular studio?

Exhibit A: Meet the biggest opener in Lions Gate history: "Saw 2".

Exhibit B: The most critically-acclaimed Lions Gate film of the year was Paul Haggis' true-story-of-a-mugging "Crash".

Exhibit C: Other films include: Nicholas Cage starrer "Lord of War" and the one by Rob Zombie, "The Devil's Rejects".

Discuss.

The really amazing thing is that managed to lose $11 million on a slate that maybe cost, what $30 mil to produce? Looks like someone needs more underpaid assistants and fewer overpaid execs.

They've only lost that money TO DATE. The dvds for DEVILS REJECTS is coming out and they will absolutely clean up with a SAW II disc (which will also spur additional sales on the original SAW).

Why do you think they're making a sequel to the lacklust THE PUNISHER? DVD MY FRIEND.

Hey, don't talk bad about my LGF! They're releasing my movie in February(though it's a D2DVD release.

And for the record, I enjoyed Saw 2 and Crash. Didn't see Lord of War.
